Chair – Julia Holladay

Purpose: The Comeback Committee started in May, 2020, at the height of job loss and economic insecurity in San Diego. This group formed with a mission of empowerment, encouragement, and connection between Comebacks and members with skills in mentoring, coaching, resume writing/editing, and other job search resources to assist members with leads/connections in their fields of interest.

Fast forward a year, with vaccines and encouraging signs in the economy/job market. That said, we think that after Covid everything will go back to perfect for everyone. Not true. There will still be professional struggles, life transitions, job changes, and need for comeback stories.

President Phil’s theme for his year 2021-22 is mentoring and this committee will help serve in this capacity.

Actions: The Comeback Committee is here to support club members desiring mentors, allies, a cup of coffee to brainstorm, or a call to see how the interview went; in other words meeting members where they are in their life transition. Rather than meet regularly, this committee will work 1:1 in a mentorship, coaching, or in more informal ways to connect with members in need of professional guidance during career transitions.

Why Join: There has never been a greater time than now for San Diego Rotary Club members to support one another in order to maintain it’s long track record of addressing challenges in our communities. As the committee chair, I will reach out to committee members when a Comeback/Mentoring need arises and match you with a member looking for skills in your area of interest. Once you sign up, I will send you a questionnaire and together, we will find ways to make mentoring a bigger part of San Diego Rotary for years to come.
