Purpose: The purpose of the Peace Committee is to imbue any and all actions taken by Club 33 with a peaceful aspect where appropriate. To nominate a peacemaker organization or individual connected to a nonprofit, who has shown exemplary skills and commitment towards peace through their actions and programs.
Goals: To discover and develop a partnership in San Diego that will promote peace throughout the city.
Activities/responsibilities: We hold regular monthly meetings on the first Thursday at 11:00 am, to discuss activities around San Diego with which we might collaborate, and to select our Peace Awardees. We apprise the committee and the Club of programs that are related to peace.
February 2018- The committee is currently supporting an Afghani man and his 9-month old son, whose mother passed away in Afghanistan. The family has arrived in San Diego and the Peace Committee has provided for all their immediate needs. Thank you to all of our members who responded so quickly to help this refugee family!
Why Join: If you are interested in the above activities, we would love to have you on board. You are welcome to provide ideas, concepts, programs to the committee.
