Rady Children’s First Pediatric Heart Transplant

Over the last 25 years, all local children needing heart transplantation were referred to institutions outside of San Diego. This required families to temporarily move out of San Diego, leading to disruption of lives and separation of the child from home, friends and community for months to years. This all changed on January 14, 2015 when Rady Children’s Hospital performed its first heart transplantation.
Guest speakers Dr. Donald Kearns, President and CEO of Rady Children’s Hospital, and Dr. Rakesh Singh, Transplant Cardiologist and Medical Director, will talk about this historic milestone for the hospital and our community.
