The Miracle of Modern Neonatal Care
San Diego is one of the leaders in advancements made to ensure premature babies grow into healthy children. The work is no less than miraculous and being done right in our backyard. Hear from the leader in this research and the changes to birth centers and the neonatal intensive care units protocols that is saving lives.
Our guest speaker will be Dr. Anup Katheria, Director of the Neonatal Research Institute at Sharp. He will be presenting an overview of a recently developed program at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns, the Neonatal Research Institute. This program, the first of its kind, had been developed to bring large scale research, typically done at University Hospitals to the largest delivery hospital in the state. To date the institute has received 4 National Institute of Health grants, and over $10 million in research funding. Over 1500 newborns have been enrolled in 30 trials all impacting the practice and care of the newborn.
